When one relationship ends, another begins

hgopuntoldstories:

Smirnoff walked into the room where he thought he’d see his stylist before heading into the arena, but instead saw a different face. Her hair was just as he remembered, short and curly. But she’d dyed it since the last time he’d seen her four years ago. Her smile was the same, but her face looked more aged, more… mature.

“Silver,” Smirnoff whispered to his sister. For the first time since his reaping he finally felt… happy. There was a sense of normalcy he hadn’t felt in a long time that his sister brought him.

“Smirnoff,” Silver whispered back. “I’ve missed you, brother. When you… when you died in the games and I never even had a chance to say goodbye… I… I lost it. I’d gone crazy. I couldn’t live with the last words we shared… Smir… I almost did it. I almost… ended it all…” she said as the tears started forming in her eyes. Smirnoff ran over to his sister and embraced her, holding her tight, never wanting to loosen his grip on the only person who ever loved him.

“Sil, I thought about it too. But before the games. I couldn’t live with the nasty words I said to you.”

“Oh, Smir. You know I love you. I hate myself for what I said. We were both to blame and both so stupid…” Silver said, grabbing Smirnoff’s hand and placing it in hers. “I love you to the moon and back, brother.”

Smirnoff squeezed his sister’s hand as Argon walked in and introduced himself to Silver.

“I’m Argon. I’m Smirnoff’s Mentor. And you are…?”

“I’m Silver. I’m Smirnoff’s sister,” she said, extending her hand to Argon, who kissed it lightly.

“I have to take Smirnoff to his stylist now. But it was nice to make your acquaintance,” Argon said as Smirnoff gave Silver a last hug.

“Nice to meet you too.”

The Viewing of the 40th Games

hgopuntoldstories:

The 24 tributes of the 44th Hunger Games finished watching all the Games from the 30s and had moved onto the 40th Games. The Bloodbath came and went. Smirnoff witnessed Briony beat him to death with the croquet mallet and immediately shot a glance at her, though Briony was unapologetic. And with that, the Bloodbath was over. The footage Smirnoff was seeing was suddenly new to him and that’s when he saw it happen. Giselle brought it upon herself to have her way with his corpse. Smirnoff stood up from his seat, pulled the flask from his pocket that Argon had given him, raised it to his mouth and finished the entire thing off.

“Fuck this!” he said as he stormed from the room, dropping the empty flask on the floor next to Briony’s feet. All he needed was another drink.

District Seven Awakenings

hungergamesofpanem:

Argon watched as his first tribute was brought back to life. It was Smirnoff. He bore a scar across his forehead where his skull had been broken because Briony hit him with a mallet.

A gasp of air and Smirnoff was awake. He looked confused, almost… drunk. As if the alcohol he had in his system before he died was still there.

“What’s going on?” the confused Smirnoff asked his Mentor.

“You’ve been brought back to life, Smirnoff,” Argon said, handing him a bottle.

Smirnoff smiled. His Mentor knew exactly what he liked: whiskey. He took a large swig and handed the bottle back to Argon, who took an even larger swig.

“That’s got a kick to it, doesn’t it?” Smirnoff said, noticing Argon looked older than he last remembered.

“Yeah, sure does. So listen.” Argon paused, taking a moment to formulate the words in his mind. “We have to talk about something…”

“And what is that?” Smirnoff had an idea what was going to be said.

“I think you know. I mean… look at me. Don’t I look different than the last time you saw me? Don’t I look… older?” Argon asked. It was then that Smirnoff pieced it together. He was returning to play in the Hunger Games again. As if the first time wasn’t enough.

“Shit…” Smirnoff whispered to himself as he grabbed the whiskey from Argon and finished it off, leaving not a single drop in the bottle.

Briony woke to a hospital room, confused and frazzled. “Swift? Oxana? Valen?” She looked around to see nothing but a bunch of tubes attached to her.
This couldn’t be right. Wait, what happened last? She remembered Swift talking to her and trying to scream, but no words coming out. She put her hands on her neck and squeezed softly. A slight bit of pain came.

Briony looked around for something, anything, to give her a clue as to what was going on. Where was her family? She remembered killing Smirnoff, and gave a small sigh of relief that he was gone. Finally.

The Capitol wouldn’t just bring her back. There had to be some sort of catch. What Games were they up to? She found her token, a circle of wood, on her nightstand and ran her finger over the carvings softly. Family, home. If only she could be there now.

Can’t wait to watch two of my past tribabies die AGAIN!

Let this be a lesson to those Gamemakers:

Day 4- Evander (new ship name because I can)

hungergamesofpanem:

The two love birds awoke to a small silver parachute that landed on Evangeline’s head. It had a note from their Mentor Argon:

Keep up the good work. Here’s a little something to eat and drink. -A

They opened up the parachute and it contained some fruit and water. They started eating it and took sips from their original water bottle until it was empty. They had a fresh one now, so they could indulge a little bit.

Suddenly they heard noises. It was their fellow tribute Sam. He had climbed up one of the trees and looked down upon Adder and Evangeline. He pulled out two of his shuriken.

Adder!Sam shouted. “Say hello to my mother for me!” Sam threw the shuriken toward the District 7 boy and watched as they hit Adder. One hit him in the neck and the other square in the chest. He fell to the ground in front of Evangeline, who looked toward Sam in shock. He slid down the tree and ran away before the girl could follow after him.

Evangeline quickly made her way to Adder’s side. He was convulsing uncontrollably. He was in his last moments of life, and Evangeline knew it. She laid his head in her lap just as she had the night before and started playing with his hair and looking at him straight in the eyes. A single tear left her right eye and fell upon Adder’s shaking chest.

She smiled at him, for not a single word could leave her lips. He smiled back as best he could. In an instant, Evangeline’s lips were upon his. She embraced him with a passionate kiss that froze time. Adder couldn’t move, paralyzed by her affection more than the shuriken in his neck and chest.

She pulled away and caught her breath. But the same couldn’t be said for Adder. The girl watched as her district partner, her friend, her ally, and her love drifted away into the white abyss. His cannon fired and then there was nothing but painstaking silence, the silence Evangeline would grow accustomed to without Adder’s sweet voice.

I go down with the ship. Sad to see Adder go. Fight on, Evangeline, fight on!

Day 3- Addeline

hungergamesofpanem:

Evangeline woke up once during the night to a canon shot, squeezing into Adder more and falling back asleep. She woke up to him shaking her at dawn.

“We need to move,” he instructed. “We been here too long already.”

Adder gathered their things and headed out to check the surrounding area of their hideout, motioning for Evangeline to join him when he saw no other tributes. They walked with the ruins, taking special care to avoid the menacing looking vines that crept up the walls along the corners. They stopped only once, each taking a few small sips from the water bottle. When they cleared the southwest angled ruins, they were forced to walk in the open for awhile before reaching the northwest set. It was like they had gone back in time, for these seemed as if they hadn’t aged a bit. Evangeline was curious and wanted to explore but she stayed close to Adder; her will to survive stronger than her will to explore. After walking a little longer a silver parachute came to rest in Adder’s hands. He had gotten his ax and looked extremely comfortable holding it in his hands. There was a note inside from their Mentor Argon. It read as follows:

You two are making me proud. Keep it up! Take this ax as extra protection. #district7love -A

“Take this,” he told Evangeline, giving her the spear, “It’s better if we both have ‘un.”

Evangeline held the spear unsure of how it felt in her hands. She was much better with small knifes and the dagger she had gotten from her dead allies neck. But with enough practice maybe she could get a hang of it.  As they came close to the corner, the dull clicking of insects sounded. Adder quickly grabbed Evangeline’s hand to draw her away. She was confused and hit his arm a questioning look in her eyes but he only shushed her with his finger to his mouth.

They were near something dangerous. She glanced around pricking her ears to the noise that had gotten Adder’s attention. It sounded like it was coming from… the ground? She watched as he examined the ground and caught on something was down there and it wasn’t good. They headed back the way they came, far from the pit, and finally stopped. They practiced with their new weapons for half of the day, Adder chucking the ax into a tree from varying distances and Evangeline getting more acquainted with the spear, although she still felt more comfortable with the dagger.

When the sun started to set and their stomachs started to growl, they each took a bit of their dried fruit and a few more sips of water. Evangeline watched as Adder stopped rustling in the bag and stared into space as if he was thinking very hard.

All of a sudden he dumped the rest of their fruit into one of the backpack pouches and filled the bag up with leaves. As he tied the rope to it Evangeline made a gesture to the bag wondering what the hell he was doing, but he only told her to wait for him as he headed back the way they came.

She passed the time he was gone by staring at her token. The golden locket held a picture of her and her brother and brought back memories of home. She pulled up her sleeves and rubbed the still bright bruises, hoping the ones on her neck had faded.

The sun was low on the horizon when Adder got back, so he and Evangeline snooped around the newer ruins for a place to stay the night. They climbed up into the window of a small, mud-brick room with no ceiling. They settled in a similar way to the night before, Adder sitting by Evangeline and pulling her to rest on his side. She protested though, sitting up and tugging at his shoulder until he laid down with his head in her lap, staring up at her as she held the spear at the ready. He refused at first, but Evangeline assured him that she would wake him up if she heard anything. Remembering how light he slept the night before, he finally relaxed a bit and tried to rest.

“Tomorrow we have to hunt,” he told her sternly. They hadn’t seen any animals in the arena. She knew what he meant. “You’re good wit’ the spear,” he assured her before she silenced him with a hand over his mouth.

He sighed and closed his eyes. After he fell asleep Evangeline replaced the spear with her dagger and watched the entrance, with no sign of anyone she looked down at Adder and brushed the hair out of his face and leaned in and kissed him softly on the cheek. She smiled despite their predicament it was good to know she wasn’t alone, that her district partner and her had made it this far.

I love their simple romance. Go District 7! Go Addeline!

Addeline (Adder and Evangeline D7)- Day 2

hungergamesofpanem:

After seeing Virgil’s dead body during his dash from the cornucopia, Adder ran with new found urgency to the spot he told Evangeline to hide. When he finally got there, he was very hesitant to approach. “Psst. E-Evangeline?” he whispered almost fearfully.  It was only when he saw her step out that he realized he had forgotten to breathe. With a ragged sigh – partially in relief, partially in need of air – he doubled over to catch his breath. Once his lungs were satisfied, he stood to check her over. Though she insisted she was alright, the blood on her cheek worried him. He reached out to wipe it away. Lack of a cut proved it wasn’t hers. It was Virgil’s blood. After to see what was in the backpack, he repacked and tugged it onto his shoulders.

“We need shelter,” he said, and started to head off alongside the ruins.

As they walked he held his spear at the ready, in case of an attack. They seemed to be the only ones who took to the left after the chaos at the bloodbath, so they should be safe… well, as safe as one can be in the arena.  After a while they found a collapsed wall along the side of the ruins, and climbed in to find a small room overtaken by vines and moss. It was open enough for a quick escape in case of any wildlife, yet the collapsed wall was tall enough to hide them from sight.

Adder sat down and dug the water out of the pack, staring at it a long while. The announcer said the lake was the only other water source, and the two of them had no means of purifying it. As if that wasn’t enough, it also seemed to be the most crowded place in the arena. He decided it was out of the question. This bottle would have to last them a while. He took a small sip and got Evangeline’s attention.

“We don’t have much,” he told her somewhat tenderly, as if he was breaking bad news, “Only drink if you need it. Small sips.”

With that, they settled in to wait for the night. Adder peeled a flattened root off the ground and started to carve pairs of numbers into it with his fingernails – two ones, two twos, two threes. Occasionally he paused, pursing his lips and trying to remember what the next number looked like.  Eventually he had a set of pairs one through 12. As the Fallen played in the sky, he scratched out numbers of the fallen tributes. There was no other way he would remember. When the anthem finished, he put the root into his bag and went to sit against the back wall, spear in hand.

Though he could barely see her in the dim moonlight, he could tell Evangeline was extremely jumpy. Adder watched her with a concerned stare. “Hey, are you alrigh’?” he asked, scooting over a bit closer to her. When the silent and terrified girl answered only by pointing at him, a soft chuckle left his lips. “Me? I think I’m betta off than you.”

With the smallest smile, he tugged their pack closer to his side and went to gently pry the dagger from her hands. “It’s okay, I’mma protect you,” he told her in his muddled speech, putting an arm around her and pulling her to rest against his side.  “Rest. We’ll be alrigh’” he assured her somewhat uncertainly. He felt Evangeline sobbing into his side and ran a comforting hand along the length of her arm until eventually she fell asleep. He rested his own head against the wall, and kept a protective arm around the sleeping girl as he kept guard.

“It’s gonna be okay,” Adder said to himself. “I hope.”

This is what happens when tributes of mine play nice: they survive and live to see another day!

Proud of you, Adder and Evangeline!

The Victor’s Lounge

hungergamesofpanem:

The day of the bloodbath soon arrived, and the 10 slightly sullen and remorseful Victors PLASTICS crowded in the Victor’s The Plastics’ Lounge, indulging in their favorite drinks, drug, and food. The bloodbath was enough to give them all an edge, no one was safe, and it was now time to see their tributes make them proud. As the bloody nightmare concluded the antics in the lounge had just picked up.
