When one relationship ends, another begins
Smirnoff walked into the room where he thought he’d see his stylist before heading into the arena, but instead saw a different face. Her hair was just as he remembered, short and curly. But she’d dyed it since the last time he’d seen her four years ago. Her smile was the same, but her face looked more aged, more… mature.
“Silver,” Smirnoff whispered to his sister. For the first time since his reaping he finally felt… happy. There was a sense of normalcy he hadn’t felt in a long time that his sister brought him.
“Smirnoff,” Silver whispered back. “I’ve missed you, brother. When you… when you died in the games and I never even had a chance to say goodbye… I… I lost it. I’d gone crazy. I couldn’t live with the last words we shared… Smir… I almost did it. I almost… ended it all…” she said as the tears started forming in her eyes. Smirnoff ran over to his sister and embraced her, holding her tight, never wanting to loosen his grip on the only person who ever loved him.
“Sil, I thought about it too. But before the games. I couldn’t live with the nasty words I said to you.”
“Oh, Smir. You know I love you. I hate myself for what I said. We were both to blame and both so stupid…” Silver said, grabbing Smirnoff’s hand and placing it in hers. “I love you to the moon and back, brother.”
Smirnoff squeezed his sister’s hand as Argon walked in and introduced himself to Silver.
“I’m Argon. I’m Smirnoff’s Mentor. And you are…?”
“I’m Silver. I’m Smirnoff’s sister,” she said, extending her hand to Argon, who kissed it lightly.
“I have to take Smirnoff to his stylist now. But it was nice to make your acquaintance,” Argon said as Smirnoff gave Silver a last hug.
“Nice to meet you too.”
